Dartmoor National Park is also associated with another significant historical process and that is mining. It was around the year 1860’s that copper mining began as an industrial process here. Soon villages were established around the mining area that is south of Tavistock.
Presently this part of Devon has become a hotspot because it is a living example of how industry and social heritage of copper miners blended together. There is a museum that will take you through the journey of development of social and industrial aspects of copper miners.
Open air museum on the banks of River Tamar, port and docks that were hub of copper miners have now been turned into tourists places that will both entertain and educate you
